My Teaching Story: The Diverse Cultural and Linguistic Backgrounds That Shape My Professional IB English Tuition

Travelling around the world while reading voraciously, I felt as if I were standing atop a tower of books, peering into the world beyond with a telescope of curiosity—every journey a new chapter, every book a new lens.

Once upon a time, I found myself living and working in Europe and the UK, wandering through old European towns, losing myself along cobblestone streets. I worked alongside colleagues from a variety of cultural backgrounds in international companies, with my relentless curiosity leading me across continents and into the world of art history and literature whenever I had the chance.

After completing the IGCSE and GCE A-Levels under the British Curriculum, I broadened my academic horizons at university, exploring subjects such as English and Literature, Linguistics, Translation, Comparative Philosophy, Asian Culture, and International Relations. Graduating with first-class honours in English Studies was a proud achievement, but even more rewarding was the unique perspective I gained from studying in Hong Kong. Speaking Cantonese—an ancient language steeped in history and infused with contemporary, sometimes gritty expressions—further deepened my cultural understanding. Now fluent in both East Asian and British cultures, I have developed into a sophisticated and versatile IB tutor and coach in English and Literature.

These experiences ultimately shaped my teaching philosophy and expertise in IB English Tuition, where I guide students to explore diverse texts with depth and curiosity.
